Abstract:
The process comprises injecting the carbon and/or hydrocarbon contg. feed in powder or liq. form, simultaneously with an oxidant and a slag former, into a combustion zone while simult aneously supplying thermal energy. The combustion zone is located in the lower portion of a shaft filled with a particulate solid carbonaceous material and S-fixing slang former. The product gas can be used as a reducing gas for chemical and metallurgical processes or as a fuel gas, e.g. for gas turbines. Process does not require precise control of O2 and feed supply and yield a gas with a low S.CO2,H2O and hydrocarbon content without formation of H2S.
