Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a Puerariae radix extract for treating and preventing cancer. More specifically, the extract of the present invention not only shows a powerful anticancer activity for colon cancer like CT-26 cells, but also increases generation of MHC II, CD80, CD86, IL-12, CD4, and CD8 which are carcinomatous tissue growth inhibition and immunization modulating substances when co-administered with conventional anticancer medicines such as 5-FU and LV in an animal model experiment of cancer xenograft. Thereby, the extract can be used as a medicine and a functional health food having effects of anti-cancer drugs or anti-cancer adjuvants which is excellent for preventing, suppressing, and treating the cancer.
