Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition having anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin whitening effects and containing a kudzu aerial part extract as an active ingredient. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition which can promote anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin whitening effects without side effects using natural materials. The composition which can promote an anti-oxidant effect according to the present invention concentration-dependently exhibits an anti-oxidant effect as a result of a DPPH experiment. Moreover, the composition which can promote an anti-inflammatory effect according to the present invention can control the generation of NO and the expression of iNOS and COX-2. In addition, the composition which can promote a skin whitening effect according to the present invention can prevent melanin synthesis in cells, prevent melanin synthesis caused by α-MSH, inhibit melanin accumulation, control the expression of melanin synthesis enzymes and factors related to the synthesis, and improve skin whitening effect even at an in vivo level.
