Abstract: An apparatus for protecting a battery pack in a mobile communication terminal is provided to make it possible to prevent a short circuit of a charging terminal of the battery pack caused by a contact with a conductive material by using a turning on/off operation of a relay installed between a battery cell and the charging terminal. An apparatus for protecting a battery pack in a mobile communication terminal comprises a power path forming unit(130). The power path forming unit(130) turns on by the power supplied from a battery charger. If the battery pack(100) is detached from the battery charger, the power path forming unit(130) turns off, and controls a power path from a charging terminal(120) of the battery pack(100) to a battery cell(110) such that it prevents a short circuit of the charging terminal(120). The power path forming unit(130) is a relay positioned between the battery cell(110) and the charging terminal(120) of the battery pack(100).
