Abstract: A mixed-flow rheometer is provided to obtain more accurate physical properties for process design and control by almost exactly simulating motion of a viscoelastic material. A mixed-flow rheometer includes a motor, a rotary shaft, a movement direction converter, upper and lower friction plates(10). The motor provides rotary force applied on a fluid. The rotary shaft rotates powered by the motor. The movement direction converter includes first and second movement direction converting members. The first movement direction converting member converts rotary movement of the rotary shaft to vertical movement. The second motion direction converting member converts the vertical movement to spiral movement. The upper and lower friction plates receive the spiral movement and transmit the spiral movement to the fluid.

Abstract: 본 발명은 전단유동과 신장(압축)유동이 혼합된 혼합유동(mixed-flow)의 거동 측정을 위한 혼합유동 레오미터(rheometer)에 관한 것이다. 구체적으로, 종래 회전형 레오미터에서 회전축의 회전운동을 나선운동으로 변환하는 운동방향 변환부를 도입하여, 피시험유체에 혼합유동을 일으키고 이를 측정하는 레오미터에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 혼합유동 레오미터는 피시험유체에 회전운동과 수직운동을 동시에 도입하여, 전단유동과 신장(압축)유동이 함께 나타나도록 함으로써, 종래의 회전형 레오미터나 모세관 레오미터에서 구현할 수 없었던 혼합유동을 구현할 수 있다는 데 가장 큰 특징이 있다. 이로써, 실제 산업현장에서 고분자 물질과 같은 점탄성 물질의 거동을 보다 유사하게 모사할 수 있어 공정설계 및 제어에 훨씬 정확한 물성값을 제공할 수 있다. 나아가, 종래 회전형 레오미터의 일부 구성요소를 교체하는 것만으로도 상기 효과를 거둘 수 있어, 종래의 기기를 그대로 사용할 수 있으며, 결과적으로 높은 경제성까지 도모할 수 있는 장점 또한 가지고 있다.
