    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for increasing activity of a membrane electrode assembly of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell is provided to increase the efficiency of a fuel cell by treating a membrane-electrode assembly in a boiling acid solution. CONSTITUTION: A method for increasing activity of a membrane electrode assembly of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell comprises the steps of: (i) manufacturing catalyst ink; (ii) applying the catalyst ink on a proton exchange membrane; (iii) attaching a gas diffusion layer to the proton exchange membrane applied with the catalyst ink; and (iv) performing acid treatment of the membrane electrode assembly prepared through the steps (i) - (iii) in acid solution at a boiling temperature.
