Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing caveolin for preventing and treating diabetes is provided to enhance caveolin level of muscle of a patient with type 2 diabetes. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating diabetes contains caveolin as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition containing caveolin is used for treating and preventing diabetes by administering to mammals in the therapeutically active amount. The administration is performed to fat, muscle, pancreas, or peripheral bloodstream.
