Abstract: PURPOSE: A monoclonal antibody for detecting multiple type foot and mouth disease virus and a detection method using the same are provided to produce an antibody which specifically diagnoses the virus and to be use in an industry. CONSTITUTION: An antibody which specifically reacts with an epitope of sequence number 1 is produced by a hydridoma cell line(deposit number KCLRF-BP-00266). A method for detecting the virus comprises a step of contacting the antibody with a test sample. The virus is type O, type A, or type Asia serotype. A kit for detecting virus contains the antibody.

A method for detecting foot and mouth disease virus comprises a step of contacting the epitope-specific antibody with a test sample. The virus is type C serotype. A kit for detecting the virus contains the antibody.
