    Abstract: The present invention relates to a cathode for a molten fuel cell and a method for manufacturing the same. An embodiment of the present invention regarding the cathode for a molten carbonate fuel cell and a method for manufacturing the same includes: a first cathode layer having air holes having average sizes ranging from 0.5 to 2 μm; a second cathode layer having air holes having average sizes ranging from 5 to 20 μm. The cathode layers are made of nickel foam (Ni-foam), and the Ni-foam has nickel oxide (NiO) coated by LiCoO2. According to the present invention, a cathode, expected to reduce a solubility by a simple manufacturing process, can be manufactured, thus expecting an increase in the lifespan of the molten carbonate fuel cell.

NaS 전지는 전해질과 나트륨극 및 유황극을 포함하며, 전해질은 알파알루미나 튜브와 튜브 외면에 코팅된 베타알루미나층을 포함한다. 알파알루미나 튜브는 35~70% 기공율을 가지는 다공성 재질로서 두께는 1~2.5mm일 수 있다. 베타알루미나층의 두께는 5~500㎛일 수 있다. 이러한 NaS 전지는 베타알루미나 코팅층이 5~500㎛ 두께로서 기존의 베타알루미나 두께 1mm 이상에 비해 훨씬 얇은 것이어서 전기저항이 낮은 고성능의 전해질을 제공한다. 또한 다공성 알파알루미나 튜브를 제작하고 그 외면에 베타알루미나층을 코팅하는 단순한 공정에 의해 전해질을 제조하기 때문에 제조공정이 간단하고 제조비용이 저렴한 효과가 있다. 또한, 알파알루미나 튜브가 기계적인 안정성을 제공하여 파손이 미연에 방지되는 효과가 있다.
