    Abstract: PURPOSE: An electro-active polymer actuator is provided to improve durability by recovering fracture toughness, tensile strength, smoothness of the surface, boundary property, and molecular weight as time passes. CONSTITUTION: An electro-active polymer actuator has a self-healing function capable of recovering properties damaged as time passes in a polymer matrix of the polymer actuator which is continuously operated. The self-healing functional element is microcapsules or micro 3D network structure containing a self-healing function. The self-healing functional component comprises ion, refrigerant, metal salt, or reducing agent.
