Abstract: PURPOSE: A powder of mother-of-pearl layer or a prism layer from a comb pen shell is provided to ensure a skin care effect and to be used as an ingredient of medicines, pharmaceutical products, and cosmetics. CONSTITUTION: A powder of a mother-of-pearl layer or a prism layer is prepared from a comb pen shell. The mother-of-pearl layer powder is prepared by naturally drying the comb pen shell for 3-5 days, or by naturally drying the same for 0.5-24 hours and then drying at a high temperature of 50-80 deg.C. for 1-5 hours, and pulverizing an isolated mother-of-pearl layer. The powder of a mother-of-pearl layer or a prism layer from the comb pen shell comprises: a step of removing impurities from the comb pen shell and washing the comb pen shell; a step of drying the washed comb pen shell; a step of isolating the mother-of-pearl layer or the prism layer; and a step of pulverizing the mother-of-pearl layer or the prism layer.
