    Abstract: PURPOSE: A coding method using a radix 4 based polar code is provided to enhance an operation speed by using a 4 x 4 basic matrix structure. CONSTITUTION: An encoding process using a Radix 4 based polar code includes a step of receiving an input signal. The received input signal can be calculated by using a predetermined mathematical equation. A 4 x 4 basic matrix is generated. A 16 x 16 polar code is acquired by multiplying a bit reverse matrix to a generated 16 x 16 matrix. A high speed encoding process is performed by using the 16 x 16 polar code. A generator matrix consists of the 16 x 16 polar code. The generator matrix is composed of the polar code of 16×16.

CONSTITUTION: A coding method uses a polar code based on radix 4. An input signal is encoded by using a 16×16 polar code based on the radix 4. The 16×16 polar code is based on a 4×4 base matrix structure. An expanded 16×16 base matrix is generated by expanding the 4×4 base matrix structure. The 16×16 polar code is generated by multiplying the expanded 16×16 base matrix with a bit reverse matrix. The coding method improves an operation speed comparing to the encoding speed using a polar code based on radix 2 proposed by Arikan.
