    Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and a method for hot-docking of a portable terminal are provided to stably attach or detach the portable terminal on a docking station without an excess current on a state that the power of the portable terminal is turned on. CONSTITUTION: The docking station(200) includes a power converter(210) converting the AC power into the DC power used in the portable terminal(100) and generating an interrupt request signal, a power buffer(220) supplying the DC power of the power converter to the portable terminal, and an I/O(Input/Output) bus(240) transmitting the data in the docking state. The portable terminal includes a power supply(110) supplying operation power to each part of the portable terminal by receiving the power from the power buffer, an interrupt controller(150) generating an interrupt by the interrupt request signal, a bus buffer(160) connecting the I/O bus(120) of the portable terminal with the I/O bus of the docking station, and a CPU(130). The CPU makes the power buffer of the docking station pass the power by generating the first control signal and operates the bus buffer by generating the second control signal.
