Abstract: 본 발명은 편광 무의존형 광 스위치 장치에 관한 것으로, 상기 광도파로가 LiNbO
3 기판에 형성되어 있고; 상기 광도파로와 LiNbO
3 기판의 상부에는 버퍼층이 형성되어 있으며; 상기 광도파로 상측의 버퍼층의 상부에는 ACPS(Asymmetric Co-Planar Strip)형 음극 및 양극 전극이 각기 이격되어 형성되어 있고; 상기 음극 및 양극 전극과 이격된 버퍼층의 상부에는 CPW(Coplanar Strip Waveguide)형 제 1 음극, 양극, 제 2 음극 전극이 상기 광도파로를 사이에 두고 각각 이격되어 형성함으로써, 수평편광 및 수직편광을 갖는 모든 광을 스위칭할 수 있는 효과가 발생한다.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A polarization independent optical switch device is provided to switch all light having horizontally polarized light and vertically polarized light by using ACPS type electrodes and CPW type electrodes. CONSTITUTION: An input optical waveguide(10), first and second branched optical waveguides(11,12), and an output optical waveguide are formed on a LiNbO3 substrate. A buffer layer is formed on the first and second branched optical waveguides and the LiNbO3 substrate. ACPS(Asymmetric Co-Planar Strip) type negative and positive electrodes(21,22) are separately formed on the buffer layer on the optical waveguides. CPW(Coplanar Strip Waveguide) type first negative, positive, and second negative electrodes(23,24,25) are formed on the buffer layer, being separated from the negative and positive electrodes. If light having vertically polarized light is inputted, the light is switched by using the ACPS type electrodes. If light having horizontally polarized light is inputted, the light is switched by using CPW type electrodes.
