Abstract: PURPOSE: A digital broadcast receiving device capable of fast channel switching and a channel switching method thereof are provided to perform vertical handover when the digital broadcast receiving device switches the mode of a broadcast channel to a different mode. CONSTITUTION: A channel information obtaining unit(111) obtains channel information of broadcasts of different modes. A table generating unit(112) generates a table for a service mode per a channel using the obtained channel information. A channel switching unit(113) switches a current channel to a selected channel by referring to the table when a user selects the channel. The channel switching unit performs vertical handover in a service mode of the selected channel when the service mode of the selected channel is different from a service mode of a current channel.
