Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing a fraction containing an antioxidizing and whitening material, and extracting and isolating an active material from peel of Castanea crenata S. et Z. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (i) adding a methanol to peel powder of Castanea crenata S. et Z., extracting the mixture about three times for about 12 hours each, and filtering and concentrating the product at reduced pressure, and then drying the product, so as to obtain a crude extract; (ii) systemically solvent-fractioning the crude extract to obtain a diethylether fraction having strong anti-oxidizing activity and an ethyl acetate fraction. A product obtained by the method can be used as material for removing a harmful oxygen from health care product, skin whitening material, and antioxidant for oil food.
