    Abstract: PURPOSE: A radiation protective composition containing diphlorethohydroxycarmalol is provided to suppress cell apoptosis and to enhance hematogenesis and immunity. CONSTITUTION: A radiation protective composition contains DHPC(diphlorethohydroxycarmalol) of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The compound is derived from Ishigeaceae plants. The composition also contains Ishigeaceae plant extract as an active ingredient. The Ishigeaceae plant is Ishige okamurae. The extract is prepared using water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, acetone, ether, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methylana chloride, n-hexane, acetic acid, formic acid, citric acid, or cyclo hexane.
