    Abstract: A laser encoder using an optic fiber as a laser transfer medium is provided to realize miniaturization through simplification of a laser interferometer by using a flexible optical fiber as a transmission medium of laser and of dividing the optical fiber. A laser encoder using an optic fiber as a laser transfer medium includes a laser source(1), a beam transmission unit(2) including a beam splitter(21) to separate a single wavelength laser beam from a laser beam emitted from the laser source, an optical fiber(22) to receive and transmit the single wavelength laser beam, a beam reducer(23) to guide the laser beam at an end of the optical fiber to the center of the optical fiber, and a beam expander(24) to output the laser beam in the form of a parallel laser beam with a predetermined diameter, a detector head(3) including a polarizing beam splitter(31) to separate the laser beam into a reference laser beam(RB) and a measuring laser beam(MB), a movable reflector(33) installed to a mobile body, a 1/4 wave plate(34) to change the polarizing direction of the measuring laser beam, a fixed reflector(36) to combine the reference laser beam with the reflected measuring laser beam, a quad-photodiode to detect an inference signal, an amplifier(38), a traveling distance estimator(4) having an A/D converter(41), and a phase estimator.
