Abstract: A filter using color and intensity for contents based image retrieval is provided to retrieve image information gradually by combining color, shape, and location feature of an image. A color histogram and a permanent moment are extracted from a queried image by receiving the query image from a user. Candidate images are retrieved from a database by using the extracted color histogram and permanent moment. The images are classified by normalizing similarity between the extracted candidate images and the queried image. The permanent moment comprises two horizontal and vertical moments, two left and right moments, and three moments not varied by size, rotation, and position.
