Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions containing the extract of Fomitopsis pinicola are provided to improve the antioxidant and cancer cell growth-inhibiting activity, and increase anticancer effects and reduce side effects of conventional anticancer drug such as cisplatin in combination anticancer treatment. An antioxidant and anticancer pharmaceutical composition contains the extract of Fomitopsis pinicola which is prepared by ethanol extraction or hot water extraction, and is formulated as oral preparations including as tablet, pill, powder, granule, syrup, solution, suspension, emulsion and capsule, or parenteral preparations including injection, rectal preparations and topical preparations.

Abstract: A culture medium composition and a method for producing hypha and extracellular polysaccharides are provided to mass-produce the hypha and extracellular polysaccharides of Fomitopsis pinicola under optimum culturing conditions. A culture medium composition for producing hypha of Fomitopsis pinicola comprises 3-4 weight/volume% of glucose, 0.4-0.6 weight/volume% of yeast extract, 0.05-0.15 weight/volume% of malt extract, 0.05-0.15 weight/volume% of K2HPO4 and 0.03-0.05 weight/volume% of MgSO4.7H2O. A method for producing hypha and extracellular polysaccharide comprises a step of culturing the Fomitopsis pinicola in the culture medium at a temperature of 25±0.5 deg.C under the pH of 5.8-6.2 using a shaking incubator with the speed of 140-150 rpm.
