Abstract: 본 발명은 대장염 예방용 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 대장염 예방 또는 치료용 조성물은 에스-알릴-엘-시스테인(S-allyl-L-cysteine), 이의 약학적으로 허용가능한 염, 또는 이들의 용매화물 또는 수화물을 유효성분으로 포함하고, 대장염에 항염증(Anti-inflammation) 활성을 나타내는 것이다. 상기 대장염 예방 또는 치료용 조성물은 에스-알릴-엘-시스테인의 항염증 활성효과 및 항산화 활성효과로서 대장염에 대한 예방 및 개선효과가 우수하면서도, 에스-알릴-엘-시스테인은 부작용을 동반하지 않으므로 대장염에 대한 활용범위가 높다.
