    Abstract: PURPOSE: A microfluidic device with a temperature gradient is provided to generate a temperature gradient in a microchannel of a detection channel and to simply measure the effect of temperature on a reaction and an analysis in the microchannel with reproducibility. CONSTITUTION: A microfluidic device with a temperature gradient comprises: a detection channel with an inlet, an outlet, and a microchannel through which a fluid moves from the inlet to the outlet; and channels for controlling temperature, which are mounted at both sides of the microchannel to run parallel with the microchannel. Heating media with different temperatures are circulated in the channels for controlling temperature. The channels for controlling temperature are separated from the detection channel at a predetermined interval. A method for measuring growth properties of a strain using the microfluidic device comprises the steps of: circulating the heating media in the channels for controlling temperature and generating a temperature gradient in the microchannel of the detection channel; injecting a strain culture medium through the inlet and culturing the strain in the microchannel; and measuring growth properties of the cultured strain.
