Abstract: A composition comprising D-pinitol is provided to show inhibitory effect on differentiation of osteoclast, thereby being very usefully used to prevent or treat metabolic bone diseases caused by hyperactivation of the osteoclast. A functional food composition for improving metabolic bone diseases comprises D-pinitol as an effective ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating osteoporosis, Paget's disease, hypercalcemia, neoplastic destruction, cancer related bone resorption disease, osteolysis and rheumatoid arthritis comprises: a pharmaceutically effective amount of the D-pinitol; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

Abstract translation: 提供了包含D-壳糖醇的组合物以显示对破骨细胞分化的抑制作用，从而非常有用地用于预防或治疗由破骨细胞过度活化引起的代谢性骨疾病。 一种用于改善代谢性骨疾病的功能性食品组合物，其作为有效成分含有D-松香糖醇。 用于预防或治疗骨质疏松症，佩吉特氏病，高钙血症，肿瘤破坏，癌症相关骨吸收疾病，骨质溶解和类风湿性关节炎的药物组合物包括：药学有效量的D-松香糖醇; 和药学上可接受的载体。
