Abstract: A method for decreasing the level of skin ashiness in an individual with xerosis and having a Fitzpatrick type 4 or higher score comprising topically applying to the skin of said individual a composition (a) having a cleansing surfactant or mixture of cleansing surfactants in quantity sufficient to cleanse the skin and (b) a moisturizing component or mixture of components in quantities sufficient to decrease the level of said skin ashiness.
