Abstract: A toothbrush 10 is provided with a detachably mounted cover (26) located outwardly of the cleaning elements (24). The cover (26) preferably includes ornamentation (28) on its outer face. A decorative overlay (52) may be releasably attached to the cover (26) to further enhance the visual attraction of the toothbrush (10) to a user. The cover (26) is releasably mounted to the head (14) of the toothbrush (10) in such a manner that there is air flow and air circulation through the cleaning elements (24) mounted on the head (14). Various types of mounting structure could be used which results in the cover (26) being readily attached to and removed from the toothbrush (10). A decorative escutcheon (50) releasably mounted to the handle (12) can be used to further enhance the visual attraction of the toothbrush (10) to prospective purchasers and users.

Abstract: A powered toothbrush (100) is provided and includes a handle portion (610) having a neck (110) formed at one end and a head (120) coupled to the neck (110). The handle portion (610) is adapted to receive a pair of batteries therein. The head (120) includes a base, and one or more carriers coupled to the base.
