Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester resin for toner by which the polyester resin can be efficiently mass-produced with stable quality without using bisphenol A or its derivative as an alcohol component. SOLUTION: The polyester resin is synthesized in which acid components are (1) disproportioned rosin and (2) terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid, alcohol components are (3) glycidyl ester and (4) an aliphatic diol, a crosslinking component consists of a polycarboxylic acid and/or a polyol, a molar ratio between the acid components (1)/(2) is 0.2-0.6, and a molar ratio between the alcohol components (3)/(4) is 0.05-0.4. The polyester resin is discharged from a reactor vessel under conditions of 160-250°C, a viscosity of 3-400 Pa s at the start of discharge and a viscosity of 50-500 Pa s at an end, and after cooling and pulverization, the resulting pulverized powder is mixed using a mixer and made uniform.
