Abstract: The present invention aims to provide: a coloring composition having high brightness, excellent heat resistance, and excellent solvent resistance; and a color filter using the same. The coloring composition for a color filter includes a coloring agent, a resin, and a solvent. The coloring agent includes: a pigment monomer (A) represented by general formula (1); and a salt forming compound (B) comprising a triarylmethane-based alkali dye and a counter compound having an anionic group.
