Abstract: In a gas spring mechanism for applying biasing forces of selected magnitudes to a member and having a main gas spring energised by a first pressure source, the improvement wherein the first pressure source is adapted to generate forces in the first gas spring of magnitudes in excess of the selected forces and in that there is a secondary gas spring energised by a second pressure source and coupled to the member to apply forces to it in a direction opposite to the selected direction, the second pressure source being adapted to generate forces in the secondary gas spring of magnitudes approximately equal to the excesses of the primary forces over the selected forces, thereby at least partly to compensate for changes in the pressure of the first pressure source due to temp. variatins.
