    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for preparing Al-based quasicrystalline particles by self-fracturing is provided, which can prepare Al-based quasicrystalline with a particle size of about 100 μm by self-fracturing in atmosphere at low cost. CONSTITUTION: The method includes the steps of dissolving 0.1 to 1.0 wt.% of carbon in Al-Cu-Fe based alloy or Al-Co-Ni based alloy to prepare an Al-based quasicrystalline alloy ingot; heat treating the Al-based quasicrystalline alloy ingot at 730 to 780 deg.C for 2 to 5 hrs; and exposing the Al-based quasicrystalline alloy ingot in atmosphere.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: An alloy system is provided which can manufactures several Kg of quasicrystalline single phase aluminum alloy even by an ordinary casting method such as die casting.
