    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method of fabricating quasicrystalline particle reinforced metal matrix composite is provided to give superior mechanical properties to a metal matrix composite by diffusing quasicrystalline particle and then hot extruding it. CONSTITUTION: The method for fabricating quasicrystalline particle reinforced metal matrix having superior mechanical properties comprises the steps of forming quasicrystalline alloy into powder; uniformly mixing the quasicrystalline alloy powder with pure metal powder or alloy powder which can be compacted by extrusion in a mixer; forming the cold formed mixed powder into billets for extrusion by sealing the exhaust gas treated mixed powder after cold forming the mixed powder by putting the mixed powder into a cylindrical container and treating exhaust gas of the cold formed mixed powder at a temperature between an ordinary temperature and 350 deg.C; and extruding the billets by maintaining a container temperature of an extruder as a pre-heating temperature of the billets after pre-heating the billets for extrusion at a temperature enabling extrusion forming of the billets.
