Abstract: PURPOSE: A catalyst for selective oxidation of carbon monoxide is provided to improve catalyst activation and selectivity and consistently maintain catalyst activation by adding transition element to existing platinum catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst for selective oxidation of carbon monoxide comprises 0.1 to 5 wt.% of platinum; 0.1 to 10 wt.% of transition element; and a balance of support, wherein the transition element is an element selected from elements of group 7 to group 10 in a periodic table, wherein the transition element is manganese, cobalt or nickel, and wherein the support is one or more metal oxides selected from the group consisting of alumina, silica, titania, zirconia, magnesia, and ceria.
