    Abstract: PURPOSE: An extraction method of massive hydrocarbon from Botryoccoccus barunii in a short time is provided which is time and cost effective. CONSTITUTION: Hydrocarbon is extracted by: culturing and recovering microalgae, Botryoccoccus barunii UEX 572; dispersing Botryoccoccus barunii UEX 572 into a solvent, which is a mixture of chloroform and methanol in a weight ratio of 2:1 and breaking the microalgae by using glass beads; extracting hydrocarbon and measuring its content.
