Abstract: A method and an apparatus for monitoring oil deterioration in real time are provided to notify chemical and thermal deterioration of oil at the same time through chromatic ratio and to estimate the chemical oil deterioration and overall pollution level at the same time based on the change of light intensity in blue, green, and red wavelength regions. A method for monitoring oil deterioration in real time comprises the steps of: projecting beam to the oil by a light source(1); measuring light intensity in red, green, and blue wavelength regions respectively after the beam passes through the oil of predetermined thickness with a color sensing unit(2); and computing light intensity ratio of red wavelength region with respect to the light intensity of green wavelength region, and computing changes of light intensity in the red, green, and blue wavelength regions by a control unit.
