Abstract: The method for producing a cubic boron nitride is characterized by mixing 0.5-30 wt.% Al-Mg alloy catalyst with hexagonal boron nitride powder of boron oxide having at least 99.9 % purity to obtain a mixed specimen, and treating the mixed specimen in the very high pressure cell at 50-60 kbar and 1450-1650 deg.C for about 30 min. The produced boron nitride as a superhard material has an excellent thermal stability, and is used as a grinding material.
