Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for collecting content using social relation characteristics, wherein the apparatus includes an input part, a database, and a content management part. The input part receives search information from a primary user. The database stores a signup list for a social network service (SNS) and group information about friends within the SNS regarding the primary user and related users related to the primary user. The content management part performs the following procedures: retrieving the content related to the inputted search information from the content possessed by the primary user and related users in an SNS server by using the group information; defining the retrieved content as a first content group; calculating a first interest quotient for each of the retrieved content based on additional information inputted by the related users; and determining specific content attracting the interest of the related users based on the calculated first interest quotients. The additional information includes at least one among comment information, sharing information, and favor information.
