Abstract: A graded-index polymer optical fiber preform and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve bandwidth property by employing a concentric arrangement multilayer structure using a plurality of thin polymer tubes. A plurality of polymer tubes(10,11,12) and a polymer tube(20) form a concentric arrangement multilayer structure. Each of the polymer tubes(10,11,12) has a different refractive index and diameter. The polymer tube(20) disposed on a center of an optical fiber has a highest refractive index. A monomer mixed solution is filled in a space between the polymer tubes(10,11,12) so that a graded-index is realized. Each of the polymer tubes(10,11,12) is manufactured from a copolymer of two monomers having different refractive index.
