Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition for preventing and treating retinal disorders which includes comb slight intoxication extracts or the fractions is provided to prevent degeneration of the retina nerve cells induced from oxidative stress. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating retinal disorders includes comb slight intoxication extracts or the fractions. The retinal disorder is the age-related macular degeneration or the glaucoma. The retinal disorder is induced by the oxidative stress. The comb slight intoxication extracts is obtained by extracting using water, alcohol of C1- C4, acetone or a mixed solvent thereof. The alcohol is either methanol or ethanol. The fractions are obtained by successively partitioning the Rheum coreanum extract by using N-hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate, normal - butanol and water in order. The health supplement for preventing and treating retinal disorders includes the comb slight intoxication or the fraction thereof as an active ingredient.
