Abstract: Penicillin was prepd. by the fermn. of Penicillium chrysogenum adsorbed on a porous matrix which supports the germination and growth of the spores. Thus, Penicillium spores were adsorbed on porous celite (porosity, 200-600 μm). The immobilized spores were cultivated on a fluidized reactor by recycling the medium contg. 1-2 lactose, 2 (SL, 0.5-1 (NH4)2SO4, 0.1-0.3 KH2PO4, 0.025 MgSO4. 7H2O, 2 mineral soln., 0.05 phenylacetic acid and 0.025% polypropylene glycol at the flow rate of 10-20 ml/hr at pH 6-8, 25-30≦̸C, 1-10 vvm and 10- 100% dissolved oxygen concentran. The recycled fed-batch fermn. which limit the phosphate concn. at 0.03-0.2 mg/ g/cell.hr increased the penicillin productivity.
