Abstract:
PURPOSE: A membrane-electrode assembly is provided to prevent the damage of an electrolyte film caused by excessive junction in the manufacture of fuel unit cell and stack, and to improve performance of a fuel cell by minimizing constant resistances with an electrolyte film and a gas diffusion layer. CONSTITUTION: A membrane-electrode assembly comprises an electrolyte membrane(1); catalyst layers(2a,2b) equipped at both sides of the electrolyte membrane; gas diffusion layers(3a,3b) equipped on the catalyst layer; gaskets contacting the sides of the gas diffusion layer and catalyst layer; and a reinforcing gasket(5) which is installed between a gasket(4a) and another gasket(4b) and has 70~95% thickness of the electrolyte film.

연료전지 단위 전지(single cell) 및 스택(stack)제조 시에도 전해질막이 손상되지 않는 구조의 막-전극 접합체로서, 기존의 개스킷 사이에 전해질막의 두께의 70~95%의 두께를 가지는 보강 개스킷을 포함하는 막-전극 접합체가 개시된다. 상기 막-전극 접합체를 사용하면, 전해질막이 기계적으로 보호되어 연료전지 단위 전지(single cell) 및 스택(stack)제조 시 지나친 체결합으로 인해 전해질막이 손상되는 것을 방지할 수 있고, 더욱이 전해질막과의 접촉저항 및 기체확산층과의 접촉저항을 최소한으로 하여 연료 전지의 성능을 더욱 개선시킬 수 있다. 전해질막, 막-전극 접합체, 보강 개스킷, 접촉저항
Abstract:
A membrane-electrode binder for a fuel cell, a method for preparing the membrane-electrode binder, and a fuel cell containing the membrane-electrode binder are provided to increase the adhesive strength with the polymer electrolyte membrane and to inhibit the discharge of the inorganic acid of the polymer electrolyte membrane. A membrane-electrode binder comprises a dual electrode which comprises a first electrode(11) and a second electrode(12); and a polymer electrolyte membrane(10) which is located on the dual electrode and is in contact with the first electrode, wherein the first electrode is prepared by using a PBI(polybenzimidazole)-based binder to increase the adhesive strength with the polymer electrolyte membrane, the second electrode is prepared by using a PTFE-based binder to inhibit the discharge of the inorganic acid of the polymer electrolyte membrane, and the polymer electrolyte membrane is a PBI-based polymer electrolyte membrane doped with an inorganic acid.

Abstract:
A polybenzimidazole containing sulfonic acid groups partially introduced thereto is provided to increase the dimensional stability of an inorganic acid-doped polybenzimidazole-based polymer, and to impart improved quality to a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell. A polybenzimidazole(PBI) containing sulfonic acid groups partially introduced thereto is represented by the following formula. In the PBI, the ratio of X : Y ranges from 2:1 to 100:1. The PBI is used for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell. The PBI containing sulfonic acid groups partially introduced thereto is obtained by a method comprising a step of polymerizing 3,3'-diaminobenzidine, isophthalic acid and 5-sulfoisophthalic acid in the presence of polyphosphoric acid.
