Abstract: Ћ-[2-(Polyalkyleneoxy)ethylthio]alkylalkoxysilanes and their preparation methods are provided to modify the surface of various organic and inorganic materials by single membrane coating with the compounds, and industrially prepare the compounds under mild conditions. The Ћ-[2-(polyalkyleneoxy)ethylthio]alkylalkoxysilanes represented by the formula(1) are provided, wherein R^1 is C1-C6 alkyl group or phenyl group; R^2 is C1-C6 alkyl group, C1-C6 alkoxy group, phenyl group or phenoxy group; R^3 and R^4 are each independently hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl group; R^5 is C1-C18 alkyl-substituted phenyl group or -CH2CH2S(CH2)nSiR^2(OR^1)2; n is an integer from 2 to 3; and m is an integer from 1 to 1000. The method for preparing the Ћ-[2-(polyalkyleneoxy)ethylthio]alkylalkoxysilanes represented by the formula(1) comprises the steps of: reacting (Ћ-mercaptoalkyl)alkoxysilanes represented by the formula(2) with metallic base of alkali metal or alkali earth metal to prepare (Ћ-alkoxysilyl)alkylthiolate metal salts represented by the formula(3); and reacting (Ћ-alkoxysilyl)alkylthiolate metal salts represented by the formula(3) with poly(alkyleneoxy) alkyl ether halogenide represented by the formula(4) or poly(alkyleneoxy) bis(haloalkyl) ether represented by the formula(5), wherein M is alkali metal or alkali earth metal atom; and X is halogen atom.
