Abstract: A method for separating biobutanol by using an ionic liquid is provided to improve environmental friendliness by using a hydrophobic ionic liquid instead of a volatile organic compound solvent. A method for separating biobutanol by using an ionic liquid comprises the steps of culturing the Clostridium bacteria in a culture fluid by anaerobic culture to obtain the culture solution containing butanol; and extracting butanol from the culture solution containing butanol by using a hydrophobic ionic liquid as an extraction solvent. Preferably the cation of the hydrophobic ionic liquid is based on imidazole.
