Abstract: A catalyst for synthesizing dimethylether from synthesis gas is provided to increase catalyst activity for both methanol synthesis reaction and aqueous gas reaction such that dimethylether is highly synthesized when the catalyst is physically mixed with a solid acid. A catalyst for synthesizing dimethylether from synthesis gas comprises a complex metal oxide represented by the formula(1): (CuO)x(ZnO)y(Al2O3)z : (Y2O3)p in which x, y, z and p independently indicate mole number of respective oxides, x/y is 0.1-10, x/(y+z) is 0.1-10, x/(y+z+p) is 0.1-10 and p/(x+y+z) is 0.01-1, and 1-90 wt.% of a solid acid. The complex metal oxide has copper surface area of more than 10 m^2/g and is prepared by co-precipitating water-soluble salt solution of copper, zinc, aluminum and yttrium using an alkali precipitating agent at pH 5-12, and drying and calcinating the obtained precipitated products at 250-700 deg.C. The solid acid is selected from gamma alumina, silica and zeolite. The dimethylether is synthesized from synthesis gas in the presence of the catalyst under conditions of GHSV(Gas Hourly Space Velocity) 500-300,000 g_cat/h, temperature of 200-350 deg.C and pressure of 5-120 atmospheric pressure.
