Abstract: The device divides the polarized light into the even mode of cosine type and the odd mode of sine type. The device includes: the input waveguides W1,W2 and the output waveguides W3,W4 on an optical crystal base plate; the middle waveguide W0 for dividing the polarized light; the electrode E1 for inducing the electric field perpendicularly; the electrode E2 for inducing the electric field horizontally, the width of the input waveguides W1,W2 and the output waveguides W3,W4 is 5 m, and the width of the middle waveguide is 8 m.

Abstract: A mirror mounting member is inserted into the grooves which are formed from the right upper corner to the left lower corner of the apparatus. A hole for a rotational shaft is provided at the center position. Two beam spliters are arranged at 450 with respect to the axis of the light. Two mirrors are disposed with a space corresponding to the distance between centers of the two beam splitters. The arrangement of the two mirrors are adjustable by adjusting means. A step motor is coupled to the mirror mounting member for rotating the mirrors at the required angles. And the mirror mounting member is disposed at a suitable position between the focusing lens of the beam expander.
