    Abstract: PURPOSE: A system and a method for approximating high-speed convolution to estimate end-to-end delay are provided to perform convolution for delay distribution ranged in many nodes, so that the end-to-end delay is estimated in a short time and the delay distribution is delivered by being compressed. CONSTITUTION: A switch(201) exchanges data traffic in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network. A control block(202) connected to the switch(201) exchanges delay information between adjacent nodes. In the control black(202), a routing information manager(203) receives delay distribution by output ports in the switch(201) for outputting. Delay distribution processors(205) receive the delay distribution in the switch(201) through the routing information manager(203), and receive delay distribution from adjacent nodes respectively to perform convolution at a high speed. A delay information switching block(206) delivers delay distribution from higher nodes to the corresponding delay distribution processors(205), or delivers calculated results of the delay distribution processor(205) to the corresponding higher nodes.

CONSTITUTION: An input buffer(701) classifies cells reached through input ports according to output ports to store the cells in a type of VOQ, and detects whether a cell exists in each VOQ, if exists, to deliver a request vector including information of a transfer request of '1', and if not exist, to deliver a request vector including information of a non-transfer request of '0'. A number N of (N/L)*M crossbar switch elements(706) are provided, wherein each i-th element connects the input ports from N(i-1)/L+1 to Ni/L to each i-th buffer of all the output ports in case the number of the input ports and output ports are respectively N and M. An arbitrator(705) is allocated to each crossbar switch element(706) one by one, to solve a problem of matching to L outputs from N/L inputs and set the crossbar switch elements(706) according to solved results.
