Abstract: PURPOSE: A container location and distance measurement device of a container unloading system and a method thereof are provided to reduce the time required for loading or unloading containers by moving a spreader of a container crane on the basis of the target distance. CONSTITUTION: A container location and distance measurement device of a container unloading system comprises: a container detection device(106) detecting a container from a container image obtained by many cameras; a relative location detection block(108) detecting the relative position between the detected container and the predefined standard location of an image; a distance measurement block(110) measuring the distance between the detected container and a spreader of a container crane; and a target distance calculation block(112) coupling the measured relative location and the measured distance and calculating the target distance of the spreader of the container crane to be moved.
