    Abstract: PURPOSE: An adaptive transmission method appropriate for a multicarrier DS CDMA(Direct Series Code Division Multiple Access) system is provided, which transmits much data for an equal time and provides a capability of correcting an error according to the kind of data and to a channel state by changing a code rate. CONSTITUTION: According to the adaptive transmission method, information bit of kth user is coded in a transmitter rate compatible punctured convolutional code(RCPS code) encoder(10) and its output(Sk(t)) is sent to a channel(20). A channel output(r(t)) is reverse spread in a receiver and is decoded in a receiver rate compatible convolutional code encoder(30). And a signal to noise ratio and a signal to interference ratio are estimated together with the decoding step. And several error correction code rate are determined to sent the estimated signal to noise ratio and signal to interference ratio to a transmitter and to maintain a proper service quality.
