Abstract: PURPOSE: An angiogenesis promoting agent containing a fraction of Patrinia villosa extract is provided to remarkably promote endothelial cell proliferation and to reduce tissue necrosis. CONSTITUTION: An angiogenesis promoting agent contains a fraction as an active ingredient, which is prepared by fractioning Patrinia villosa extract with an organic solvent. The Patrinia villosa extract is isolated using water, low alcohol of C1-C4, or mixture solvent thereof. The low alcohol is ethanol or methanol. The promoting agent is used for treating ischemia, chronic ulcer, ischemic stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, ulcer, artery scleroma, myocardial infarction, angina or vascular dementia. A health food for promoting angiogenesis contains the fraction as an active ingredient.
