Abstract: PURPOSE: A system for measuring a national science and technology competitiveness level and a method thereof are provided to determine the proximity of cited patents to a central patent by analyzing the status of the cited patents based on the central patent. CONSTITUTION: A communication unit(112) communicates with a patent information providing server(130) through a communication network. A patent information obtaining unit(114) obtains patent-related information of a corresponding country from the patent information providing server. A competitiveness index calculating unit(116) calculates national science and technology competitiveness indexes by multiplying a status-based core patent index by an influence index indicating the influence of the patent. An output unit(118) outputs the national science and technology competitiveness indexes as video or audio data.
