Abstract: PURPOSE: A sign language translator and a method thereof are provided to contribute to the improvement in the welfare of the disabled by translating the video of a finger language into a voice or text. CONSTITUTION: A memory(120) stores voice and text corresponding to a finger language video, and a pattern matching/image recognition unit(150) determines the image pattern by processing the finger language video inputted through a camera. The pattern matching/image recognition unit searches the finger language matched with the image pattern from the memory. The pattern matching/image recognition unit extracts the voice or text corresponding to the searched finger image, and a voice output unit(180) or a display unit(170) outputs the extracted voice or text.
