Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided are sports shoes using a plastic optical fiber which emits light from entire shoes, thereby showing good visual cognition and decorative effects as well as ensuring mechanical reinforcement. CONSTITUTION: The sports shoes include a light source and a plastic optical fiber with a decorative pattern so as to emit light continuously or intermittently. The plastic optical fiber is selected from one comprised of core, clad and protective layer, one comprised of core and clad, and one comprised of core alone. The plastic optical fiber is formed of an acrylic resin or a polymeric transparent material selected from polyurethane, high impact-resistant polystyrene, styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer, ethylene-propylene-(diene) copolymeric rubber, polyisoprene rubber and polybutadiene rubber.
